Causes and solutions of machining deformation of slender shaft forgings

The bending deformation of slender shaft forgings after fine cutting is analyzed by analyzing the influence of various related processes on bending deformation. The results show that the residual stress after straightening is the main cause of the bending deformation of the slender shaft. Through the stress relief annealing test and the adjustment of the production process, the residual stress is eliminated. Determine the adjusted production process as the solution.

In recent years, our company found in the processing of slender shaft forgings that the radial runout of the outer circle is normal when the forging blank is rough turning, but the radial runout is detected after the subsequent fine turning and grooving, the shaft parts are deformed, and the radial runout is seriously out of tolerance. This kind of unqualified phenomenon does not occur frequently, but once it occurs, about 1/3 of the shaft parts will become waste products due to unqualified finishing, which seriously affects the normal production of the workshop. In view of the above situation, this paper analyzes from various angles, finds out the reasons for the processing deformation of slender shaft parts, and puts forward practical improvement measures, so as to ensure the smooth progress of production.
